We are a family of individual hotels at the best European addresses. Of historic buildings with great stories and greater views turned into characterful, thoughtfully designed hotels and retreats. Each of our properties is individual – each has its own personality, and each is authentic to its city.

Our History
The Forte family has been in the hospitality business for four generations – in that time we’ve developed a distinctive approach to service and a certain sense of style.
Since opening our first hotel, The Balmoral in Edinburgh, we have carefully expanded our footprint, acquiring beautiful hotels in Germany, Belgium, Russia, Italy and the UK. But even though we've grown, individuality and authenticity are still at the heart of everything we do.
The Balmoral
The Balmoral is located at Edinburgh’s most prestigious address, No. 1 Princes Street, where the Old Town stops and the New Town begins. Our hotel’s majestic clock defines the city’s skyline and since the day we opened in 1902 it has run three minutes fast to ensure our guests will never miss their train.
A welcome in bespoke Balmoral tartan; Hebridean blues, heather hues and classic Scottish art; whisky ambassadors with 500 malts, award-winning afternoon tea and a serene spa at the city's most majestic spot – The Balmoral is a love letter to Scotland.

INDUCTION
All Team Members enjoy a two-day company orientation before they start their departmental induction journey. This is the time to learn about Rocco Forte Hotels’ history and culture, plus the hotel and local surroundings.

THE ART OF SERVICE
We are very proud of our outstanding level of service – it helps make us unique. The Art of Service programme is tailored for each department, to ensure everyone is equipped with the skills needed to exceed guest expectations.

BE FORTE
We believe learning should have no boundaries, so have created our Be Forte online learning platform. Be Forte gives Team Members access to a vast range of learning content, from product knowledge to IT courses and leadership development.

FORTE FUTURE LEADERS
This development programme gives participants the chance to build confidence and learn key skills to expertly manage people and projects. Participant sessions with business leaders are combined with opportunities for self-reflection, projects and practical learning activities.

DISCOVERY INTERNSHIP
Students receive a tailor-made experience in our properties or corporate offices. The programme guarantees experience in at least two departments, a structured learning plan, personality profiling, a business project and mentoring. Plus access to team rates and a guest experience stay!

Brown’s Hotel has developed my career in so many ways. Working my way up from the front line to being an Assistant Head Housekeeper has been such an inspirational journey and a dream come true! Originally From Morocco, I started my career within hospitality in Europe when I was 19 years old, and afterwards I landed in Sicily for the opening of the Verdura Resort in 2009. Today I'm the Director of Groups and Events and leading a team of 4, my professionalism and passion for hospitality have guided me through a very successful career with Rocco forte Hotels starting as Food & Beverage hostess, Banqueting Manager and now Groups and Events Director.

Working at Rocco Forte Hotels feels like being part of a family, and their multidisciplinary approach provides many opportunities. I've been Chef de Rang, Supervisor, Sommelier, Assistant Manager and now I manage the 4 AA Rosette, Michelin recommended Number one Restaurant at The Balmoral. Myself, Head Chef Mathew Sherry and our team showcase local, Scottish and British produce through seasonal 3 course and 7 course menus. We all share a love of fine food, wine, whisky and providing world class Scottish hospitality to every guest. Like my own progression, our team can expect fantastic learning and development opportunities specific to them."

A strong Concierge has always been a pillar of Rocco Forte Hotels and actively supported by Sir Rocco himself. I am proud to be a member and lead one such fantastic team. I began my career at the Hotel de Rome as an apprentice in 2014 and over the past decade worked through the various stages of the team from Porter eventually to Concierge. I received my Golden Keys from Les Clefs d'Or in 2021 and now run the four person team as Head Concierge. It is a great privilege to act as an ambassador for the city of Berlin and Rocco Forte Hotels to our many guests, both new and regular.
